As we watch the coronavirus pandemic play out on a global scale, it’s easy to feel lonely and helpless. We are best when we are caring for each other and towards our community. You can make a difference. Even if you’re quarantined at home, there are still many ways to get involved and give back,
Verify, do not forward blindly
During these tough times, when people are taking help and utilising social media in a very positive way, be a verifier and not a forwarder. Contribute your bit to people who are in need of resources.
Be considerate and thoughtful
In times like these being thoughtful for people you’re surrounded with, makes all the difference in the world. Just one act towards a person indicating that you care is enough.
Forget about anger
Being angry at this point serves no one, rather be empathetic, understand what others are going through. Direct your anger towards helping, not blaming.
Spend time with family
This year has taught everyone not to take even a single moment for granted because you never know what is going to happen next. So, spend your time wisely with the people you love, keep the conversations flowing with your parents, grandparents even if it’s virtual because it’s harder for them.
Help people in need
If you have monetary privilege then you can help people in need, which can include just generously tipping your vegetable vendor and the like.
Donate and Get Vaccinated
Donate your plasma to patients in need if you’ve had covid and recovered, get vaccinated if you’re 18 and above. These can tremendously help in the betterment of the situation.
Be a responsible citizen and remain inside. The best thing we can do to help is to not
put any extra pressure on an already crumbling medical infrastructure.
Most importantly remember that you’re also helping others by taking good care of your own self, strangely we have FOMO around help, as bizarre as it sounds!
But it is important to realise that help can come in different avatars, while helping others is important right now, do not overburden and take care of yourself!
